Samos is an island of the northeastern
Aegean Sea. It is the birthplace of the great philosopher &
mathematician Pythagoras. Samos is one of the prettiest Greek islands
and is a very short distance away from the coasts of Turkey (just 1200
meters at Mykali's strait).
Samos is an island rich in history, with
many important archaeological and paleontological findings and sites It
is also famous for its wine that has received many international awards.
If someone wishes to visit Samos there
are many options. There are ferry boats from Piraeus, Salonica, Chios,
Lesvos and other nearby islands to Samos. During the summer period there
are ships/ flying dolphins daily that connect Samos to other Dodecanese
islands and Turkey.
There are also daily domestic flights
with Olympic Airways and Aegean Airlines from Athens or Salonica to
Samos. During the summer period many charter flights are added from
destinations like United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Austria etc
flying directly to Samos.
